Entry of the Laboratory at the Campus of Savona

Every friday afternoon from 14.00, a lot of teenagers of high schools meet at the University Campus of Savona for face problems linked to Mechanical, Electronic, Thermodynamics asiisted by professor Bianca Ferrrari, professor Luciano Alfini and professor Lino Addiego. The university associates are the tutors.

The meeting is every friday, after 13.00 at the University Campus cafeteria or at 14.00 in the “Palazzina Delfino”.

During the meetings take place various activities, including the theorical study of important scientific themes like the relativity of Einstein, the electromagnetism, the mathematical analysis. 5 working groups are also active.

  • ELECTRONIC GROUP:

– Study of natural radioactivity through the construction of a fireplace captures ions in cooperation with the Director of Health Physics ASL 2 of Savona;

– Study of electronics and programming for the construction of a voice command;

– Study of hardware and software for the reactivation of a computer.

  • OPTICAL GROUP:

– Study and construction of a kaleidoscope;

– Stages activity at the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) of Genoa about photom detectors;

– Set of experences to the optical bench;

  • CLASSICAL PHYSICS GROUP:

– Faithful reconstruction of the inclined plane of Galileo Galilei, from the study of geometric proportions, taking a cue from the paintings of that era and from the models seen at the Monaco of Bavaria’s and Firenze’s museums.

  • MECHANICAL GROUP:

– Study and construction of a model of the Stirling motor to further the study of mechanics and thermodynamics and the study of internal combustion engines.

– Study and constuction of Joule experiment for the measurement equivalence between work and energy.

  • ELECTROMAGNETIC GROUP:

– Construction of the laboratory experiments;

– Stages at the INFN of Genoa and partecipation in reserch on super conductors;

-Design and construction of an electromagnetic crane; – Study and realization of a Tesla coil; – Study and construction of a Van de Graaff machine manual.

With the support of SPES, that have made available a local and have given the willingness to buy the equipment needed to carry out some prejects, it was possible build a complete laboratory for the conduct of weekly activities.

The laboratory is open by appointement for classes. For informations, contact us.

Wednesday, instead, is dedicated to younger students of “Fisica e oltre” (Physics and beyond) group that adress issues related to those discussed by the “older” members at the University Campus.

The meeting is every wednesday at 13.30, at the ISS “Ferraris-Pancaldo” ‘s locals.

The association has signed an agreement with the ITIS of Savona in order to operate in the school laboratories and to have a local. A group of teenagers of the first and the second year (the smallest of the Association) meets outside of school hours at the ITIS “G.Ferraris” ‘s laboratory and takes part at theorical lessons and designes new experiments. Four groups guided by six young associates older, of the senior cycle:

  • Group of the electrical circuits;
  • Group of the electromagnetism;
  • Group for the study of mechanical motions;
  • Group of the optics.
